description

"I sent my Armada to fight the English not the forces of nature", King Philipp II said when faced with the remains of his fleet. In 1588 a European windstorm prevented the conquest of England and spelled doom for the Spanish Armada. Protestant England was convinced: God was on their side. When in 1666 a firestorm reduced one half of London to rubble the Catholics were quickly identified as the culprits. At a time when the fantastic English viol music was at its very best the terrifying fraternal hatred caused more havoc than the force of the elements. PHANTASM's interpretations of the genre have set the international standard and are celebrated globally. And rightly so.
