Music Festival Potsdam Sanssouci
12th – 28th June 2020 / 11th – 27th June 2021
FLOWER POWER

A flower people party in the Mark: from 12th – 28th June 2020 / 11th – 27th June 2021 the Music Festival Potsdam Sanssouci follows social utopias, young revolutions and the symbolical power of flowers – as its theme this year is »Flower Power«. The reopening of the Palace Theatre in the New Palace is certain to be a highlight: on 20th June Georg Philipp Telemann’s »Pastorelle en musique« is staged under the musical direction of this year’s Telemann-Award-Winner and the Festival’s Artistic Director Dorothee Oberlinger.

The festival program features no less than four musical theatre productions. From Monteverdi’s »Orfeo« as semi-staged BaRock-Opera in the Court of Honour at Sanssouci Palace on the opening weekend and the productions of Charpentier’s »Les Arts florissans« as well as Telemann’s »Pastorelle« to Purcell’s »Indian Queen« as festively illuminated closing open air. For two weeks concerts, guided tours and readings from daybreak into night bring the palaces and gardens of Potsdam Sanssouci to musical life.

The 2020 festival proudly welcomes Barthold Kuijken, Jean Rondeau, Lydia Teuscher, Rolf Lislevand, Luca Pianca, Dmitry Sinkovsky, Lee Santana, the Musikbanda FRANUI and Florian Boesch, the Conjunto de Música Antigua Ars Longa de Habana, Graindelavoix, B’Rock, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, L’arte del mondo with Werner Ehrhardt, Ensemble 1700, Ensemble Marguerite Louise, Les Musiciens de Saint-Julien and François Lazarevitch, Capella de la Torre and Katharina Bäuml, Musica Alchemica and Lina Tur Bonet, Holger Falk and Steffen Schleiermacher, the Quatuor Van Kuijk, the Ensemble Fretwork as well as composers Komponisten Thierry Tidrow and Gisbert Näther et al.
