description

When on water, humans are completely in God's hand: according to an anecdote Henry Purcell was inspired by the rough maiden voyage of a royal yacht to write his "They that go down to the sea in ships". One of the greatest singers of his age was on board as well. John Gostling was not only graced with a Sarastro-like bass voice, he also inspired Purcell to write extraordinary compositions plus he left a collection of pieces by Purcell's most important contemporaries: a rich source for musicians today. The ensemble TRANSPORTS PUBLICS with their founder Thomas Baeté have dedicated an eclectic program to him. Charismatic Argentinian bass-baritone Lisandro Abadie lends his voice to the illustrious colleague.
