description

The water city of Venice is a marvel, wrested from the wet element by the sheer force of human creativity. A dream of a city turned into music in hundreds of gondola songs and barcarolles, dreamt further and further away around the piano. The fact that the Serenissima stands on dangerously volatile ground only enhances its magic: its dark, morbid side attracted composers of Romanticism. In fact water's capricious nature in its interplay with weather and light generally inspired their fantasy and the new pianos provided the colours. Russian pianist Olga Pashchenko takes you on a romantic water journey and the sound of an original Érard concert grand makes the wave glisten seductively.
