RUE RAMEAU - a prime address!
Jean-Philippe Rameau was a jack-of-all-trades in the 18th century. He did innovative opera and ballet creations and his orchestra sounds as well as his work as harpsichord virtuoso, theoretician and teacher revolutionized the music of his age and was in many ways ahead of it. Meet Bach and Händel's great French contemporary in Potsdam. You'll find him at Rue Rameau № 1 to 5.
Thomas Dunford, lute
Jean Rondeau, harpsichord

Originals and arrangements for lute and harpsichord by Jean Rondeau & Thomas Dunford

Prélude in A minor | Les Trois Mains | Gavotte & Doubles | Les Tendres Plaintes | Les Niais de Sologne | L'Entretien des Muses | La Poule | L'Enharmonique | Les Sauvages et al.
Two young top stars of early music, both blessed with incredible presence and driven by the sheer joy of making music, come together for a duo session of an extravagant nature. Rameau's compositions are well known among friends of the keyboard instrument as the very best in French harpsichord music. But who knows that French clavecinists derived many ideas for their art from lute-playing techniques? Rondeau & Dunford remember the common origins and present Rameau's music as solo and for two, sometimes in the old and familiar and sometimes in a refreshingly new tonal guise.
