description

Ravels major orchestral pieces have always fascinated Swedish organ virtuoso Gunnar Idenstam. Ever since studying with the legendary Marie-Claire Alain in Paris, he imagined playing them on his instrument one day. He had to mobilize all his technical mastery and musical imagination to capture the dazzling colourfulness of the pieces. In his own music the master of improvisation creates an astonishing symbiosis of French church organ traditions with symphonic rock & pop. Combining German and late French romantic elements, the range of the Woehl organ in the Church of Peace wonderfully comes into its own with Ravel and Idenstam.
