The French always and confidently treasured their own style. Yet the music in Italy was always far too exciting and interesting to turn away from and had an almost magnetic attraction for both musicians and audiences. So why not combine the best of both worlds? Having been trained with Corellis' and Locatellis' art, Jean-Marie Leclair developed from master of dances to one of the leading French violin virtuosos of his time. And François Couperin stages the moment when two national treasures, Lully and Corelli, meet on the parnass as a humorous plea for reconciliation between the tastes. He could not have found better representation than GLI INCOGNITI and Amandine Beyer, one of the most exciting baroque violinists.
