When baroque composers wanted to promise pleasures and delights to their audiences they would tempt them with "little flower bundles" and "fruits from the lute" into their "musical garden". Who could resist such promising titles? In fact not far from Reincke's "hortus musicus" another man from Germany cultivated a highly original Italian "giardino del piacere". Rediscover a master in a dual sense: not only baroque connoisseurs will listen carefully. The Ensemble Diderot's musicians open the gates to a pleasure garden by J.F. Meister's and his famous contemporaries. They in turn take pleasure in populating it artistically with beautiful shepherdesses, cuckoos and Flora's children.
