Judaspassion

Judas was bought for 30 silverlings and betrayed Jesus with a kiss on the cheek: probably no other biblical story has caused more hatred against Jews than this one. To this day the »Judas kiss« stands for malicious betrayal disguised as friendship. However, the story never made sense to great Israeli author Amos Oz: in his novel »Judas« he reinterprets it. Having surprised everyone with his exciting solo version of Bach’s Johannes passion, Benedikt Kristjánsson lets Judas speak Oz’s words and creates a suspenseful synthesis with Bach’s music. A strong piece for a late performance.
