Young Mozart must give his best to compete with Haydn’s innovative quartet art and loves it. When he surprises the doyen at a house concert with the fruits of his labour, Haydn refers to him as the greatest composer the master knows. Soon after the two genius friends would compete for favour and patronage of cello-loving Friedrich Wilhelm II adding new highlights to the genre with their »Prussian Quartets«. Quatuor Cambini-Paris perform on instruments from the time of creation in the Palm Hall where the king himself used to make music bringing back the original sound of Viennese classic.
