Young Frederick

artists

Barthold Kuijken, transverse flute
Ewald Demeyre, harpsichord

Even Frederick the Great was young at one point – and in love with his transverse flute, a love he stayed true to even as his wars were accompanied by drums and pipes. The musical companions of the crown prince’s time in Rheinsberg later became key players in his court music. One of the main protagonists from the wild beginnings of early music does himself the honour of reviving Frederick’s musical spring in all its glory.
