A long time ago Abel senior had played with Bach senior at the Court Orchestra Köthen, decades later their sons, who were flatmates sharing a London apartment, startet the first ever subscription concert series in music history: The Bach-Abel-Concerts became a musical institution in London, a high-society get-together where the hosts shine both with their compositions and as instrumentalists. As the last great viol virtuoso Abel became a legend even in his lifetime: Outstanding violist Vittorio Ghielmi has filled the program with rarities from the former’s creative work including a concert for pentachoron, a new type of cello with 5 strings.
