It is meant to be a friendly visit without any pomp and circumstance when Friedrich II visits his favourite sister in Bayreuth in June 1754. However, margravine Wilhelmine puts her opera house into top gear and surprises him with a spectacular »festa teatrale« the libretto of which is based on one she had written herself. Its theme is ageless and hence contemporary: humankind caught in its contradiction between good and evil.

The opera production is linked to a research project of the Universität Bayreuth, which initiated the revival of »L'Huomo« and prepares and accompanies it scientifically.
