Carnations in exile

An evening with Eisler, Brecht & Weill

artists

Holger Falk, baritone
Steffen Schleiermacher, piano

There’s no need to strike a blow for Kurt Weill, Hans Eisler is a different story though: apart from the May Day carnation battle songs this great 20th century lied composer is worth rediscovering! In 1990 the »Germany, united fatherland« of his GDR anthem, the lyrics of which had by then not been sung for many years, became reality. Winners of the 2017 German Record Critics’ Award for their Eisler interpretation, tonight’s performers, an East-West German duo, goes on a lieder journey from Berlin via Paris to Hollywood.
