In 17th century England one would prefer to maintain one’s musical friendships in »consort« with recorders, viols or in a variety of mixed settings. Matthew Locke’s »Consort for several friends« is merely the tip of a shining iceberg. In its program, specifically created for the Music Festival, tone:scape – ensemble explore the friendly network of London’s creative scene letting poets such as John Milton and William Davenant have their say whilst discovering fully integrated migrants such as Finger from Bohemia and Händel from Saxony even bringing it up to the present day. Refreshing!
