The oboe, by nature more of a louder open-air instrument mutates into a smooth ear-pleaser in 17th century France. The Brits also fell in love with its irresistible sound and Queen Anne even had her very own oboe band, which her favourite composer Jacques Paisible wrote many pieces for. The bands repertoire mixed French fashion dances with English and Scottish tunes, and it inspired the highly acclaimed debut album of young top ensemble La Petite Écurie. It all comes together in the unique setting that is the Hedge Theatre at the New Palace.
