Els Biesemans fortepianol
The creative minds of German Romanticism considered the »Philistine« , their arch enemy , to be the embodiment of intellectually suffocating narrow-mindedness and indolent complacency. To face this new Goliath, young Schumann creates his »League of David«, a fictitious fighting force recruited from real friends, elective affinities and the many souls inhabiting his body and lets them dance »Dances of the Dead, St. Vitus’ Dances, Dances of the Graces as well as Goblin Dances«. When Els Biesemann gathers four of Schumann’s best legionaries around the historical fortepiano, the League of David is phenomenally revived by means of extraordinary musical fighting power.
