Jean Rondeau harpsichord
The three virtuosos who initiated the glorious era of the French clavencin in the 17th century were well acquainted with one another. Their musical gatherings – regularly staged in Chambonnière’s house – were also attended by other friends and colleagues. One of them was the Southern German Froberger who, as he was visiting Paris, witnessed the deadly accident that ensured lutenist Blancrocher’s place in musical history as several well-known composer friends dedicated a »Tombeau« to him as a musical obituary. The program is based on a network of friendly collegiate relationships with refined and expressive French harpsichord art, celebrated by one of its true masters – Jean Rondeau.
