The triumphant march of the Spanish guitar, from the streets to the palaces, set the Baroque music world in motion. With fiery dance rhythms, it heated up half of Europe, and the wave of fashion rolled as far as Paris and London. Ingenious instrumentalists even refined the dances into sophisticated chamber music for kings. The Basque guitarist Enrique Solinís, who was frenetically acclaimed in Potsdam in 2022 with his Euskal Barokkensemble for his musical circumnavigation of the globe, is one such artist. Under his virtuoso hands, traditional dances from the Basque country which grew to its highest bloom on the fertile soil of folk music, compete with the art of the old masters. Thrilling!
