In 1705, on a trip to Silesia, Telemann fell in love with the local folk music. He raved that anyone who listened to the musicians there for eight days could take enough ideas for the rest of his or her life! After this initial spark, he continued to collect, treasuring the found objects in his own compositions and dressing their »true barbaric beauty« in the garments of his art. When Les Musiciens de Saint-Julien reconnect Telemann with his sources and mix his »folk-based« pieces with traditional music from Eastern Europe, you can hear the old master himself in a new, wild freshness. And, like him, you will fall for the unleashed imagination of fabulous musicians who open up a world of sound full of surprises.
