Arnold Schönberg (1874-1951): "The Book of the Hanging Gardens"
15 Lieder op. 15 based on texts by Stefan George
Arnold Schönberg, like his predecessors Beethoven and Schumann, stands for a departure to new musical horizons. Today's concert puts Schönberg's masterpiece in the context of a 100-year tradition. Nature and gardens turn into an all-encompassing resonance chamber of internal experience - both in Stefan George's magical gardens of desire as well as in Beethoven and Schumann
