Capella Mediterranea
Ensemble in Residence
artistic director: Leonardo García Alarcón
It is always an asset for a music festival when a versatile ensemble is able to present the stylistic range of its abilities in several performances. This is why the Potsdam Sanssouci Music Festival has engaged an ensemble in residence for the first time this year.
Cappella Mediterranea recommended themselves for this with their very own mix of genres, from artistic vocal polyphony to opera and intimate chamber concerts, with original program ideas and a special affinity to dance. They made their inspiring Potsdam-debut in 2017 with Michelangelo Falvetti's rediscovered oratorio »Il diluvio universale«, accompanied by the Namur Chamber Choir as a congenial partner. Under their Argentinian director and founder Leonardo García Alarcón, they explore in particular the intensive musical exchange between Europe and Latin America and venture on exciting excursions into non-baroque realms. Be there when Claudio Monteverdi dances the tango with Astor Piazzolla in Sanssouci!
