François Couperin’s poetically and humorously joyful storytelling takes us on a double visit to Mount Parnassus: as he had raised the Italian Corelli in the first of his »apotheosis« in concerto form to the peak of the Muses, he naturally had to equally honour French national icon Lully.
Leila Schayegh, the Swiss violinist extraordinaire and her ensemble have put together a delightful program, letting both the harpsichord and the viola da gamba shine as soloists before the rivalling Muses of France and Italy seal their peaceful coexistence in playful harmony.
