Not only composer Johann Wilhelm Hertel was attracted to the 18th century carnation cult. Passionate »carnationists« everywhere were putting their scented beauties on display in so-called »carnation theatres«: one of them welcomes you with a selection of historical carnations in the Court of Columns at the Orangery Palace before a concert full of sentient spring joy. Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin are renowned around the globe for their historically informed performances and team up with young Icelandic tenor Benedikt Kristjánsson, winner of the 2019 OPUS Klassik Award, whose shiningly light voice is certain to touch the audience’s hearts.
