description

Paris was the 19th century's piano megacity. Erard and Pleyel built technically ever more sophisticated instruments for the piano elite and the French were the avant-garde when it came to discovering incredible piano worlds beyond Liszt. As timbre magician and master of poetic compression Claude Debussy was a revolutionary as was Erik Satie with his radical minimalism and his acidic humour that got rid of all hollow art pathos: hard to believe he is turning 150 this year! Alexei Lubimov is a unique pianist known for unlimited musical curiosity from Baroque to the present. Together with his congenial duo partner Viacheslav Poprugin they play on historical instruments - always on to that special sound that magically lends new wings to the music.
