description

Frederic and Voltaire take the theatre cart, which made opera movable at the Festival 2015, stroll through Potsdam and publicly do what they always did: wittily talking and arguing about anything and everything whilst skilfully employing sagacity and brilliant rhetoric.

Frederic II and Voltaire: the story of a passionate, intellectual affair. It began as a pen-friendship, ultimately reached its peak when Voltaire visited the court in Potsdam for three years and endured even spectacular quarrels. Today Voltaire is back on everybody's mind. Yet of all things it was at Boulevard Voltaire where hatred and violence struck most fiercely in the Parisian terror night. The dialogue between Frederic and Voltaire builds a bridge from the age of enlightenment to the present at a time when the dialogue about common European values is more important than ever: there is even a new Edict of Potsdam with the citizens outlining their idea of a respectful togetherness in solidarity.

Event is in the past.
