Villa Jacobs Garden

Right in the middle of paradise: music in Potsdam's gardens

Villa Jacobs Garden / Address: Bertiniweg 2, 14469 Potsdam

RAIN ACTIVITIES: due to the forecasted bad weather please take care to wear rainproof clothing. Gardenmusic will take place at the original venue.

A number of particularly beautiful private gardens in Potsdam open their gates exclusively and host an al fresco home concert. After being greeted by your hosts in person you will find out all about the garden and its history and meet the festival artists up, close and personal. Relax and enjoy superb music with coffee, wine and some small dainties: leave your daily routine behind and enter the magical empire of blossoming gardens.

The "Garden Music" is presented in cooperation with the Friends of the Music Festival Potsdam Sanssouci. We wish to express our gratitude to all garden owners who kindly agreed to open their gardens to us.

description

Villa Jacobs is located at the tread of Jungfernsee. Peter Joseph Lenné designed the lavish garden in collaboration with the architect Ludwig Persius. In 1980/81 the villa was completely destroyed, all that remained was a vaulted cellar. 2006 to 2009 saw the reconstruction of both park and building modelled on the historical plans. Today the property is part of the UNESCO world heritage. Almost every tree has a story. Combining beauty and utility was one of Lenné's basic principles. Therefore the grid-type planting of old varieties of apples as well as the re-cultivation of the vineyard follow old examples. Time and again the paths running through the terraces, which the orchard is bordered by, offer new vistas.

Event is in the past.
