In Alessandro Scarlatti's Serenata all of nature becomes a "Love Garden": after all, none other than the goddess of love herself has fallen in love and now she is waiting for her Adonis in Arcadia's forest where he is looking for her as well. But the streams don't ripple and burble, the leaves don't whisper and even the nightingale sounds dull and dreary. At last the two meet and everything awakens for the celebrations of a single night of love. Scarlatti dresses their dialogues with melting arias and blazing duets.

While an Arcadian diet consists of love and air, nourishing fruits are produced in Klein-Zschocher near Leipzig. A couple of farmers are getting ready for the new squire's birthday celebrations and naturally they have butterflies in their tummies and bugs in their bags: because in Bach's earthly "Bauernkantate" (farmers' cantata) the master reveals a refreshingly unusual side.

The Music Festival gains a charming new venue: the historical riding stable based on designs by Schinkel. Take a stroll among roses and the helter-skelter vegetation and be amazed by the double love garden of Arcadia and Klein-Zschocher!
