description

The Virgin Mary was believed to have reopened the locked garden of paradise and since medieval times she has been revered as "Rosa mystica", the "mysterious Rose". This evening's pieces are influenced by the glowing Marian devotion of the Italian baroque: from the young Händel's breathtakingly beautiful Marian antiphones via Scarlatti's "Rose Garden" oratorio to Ferrandini's pieta, which was attributed to Händel for a long time. It finds its expression in sensually tonal splendour performed by top baroque performance artists.

A production in cooperation with the Musicfestival KLANGVOKAL Dortmund.
