NORDIC JOURNEYS for adults

Following Emperor William II by boat

Sailors’ Station Kongsnæs & Church of our Saviour Sacrow / Address: steamboat MS "Königswald"

description

4-hour trip for adults
with steamboat MS "Königswald"

from landing place Schiffbauergasse, Potsdam

The trip takes us to Kongsnæs and a guided construction site tour in the company of imperial expert Jörg Kirschstein. After witnessing the ongoing restoration of the imperial Sailors’s Station the next stop is the Church of our Saviour in Sacrow where we are expected by Leipziger Streichquartett and a concert with music by Edvard Grieg and (not quite) Richard Wagner.Emperor William II shared his fascination of the Nordic nature and its myths with many of his subjects. Almost every summer his yacht "Hohenzollern" took him to Norway simultaneously boosting tourism in the region. It takes more than one afternoon to reach Sogne-Fjord, but William moved a piece of Norway to Jungfernsee and built the Sailors’ Station Kongsnæs. A group of supporters has been striving for the restoration of the unique building ensemble since 1999. We hope to have perfect weather conditions when we drop the anchor in Kongsnæs and Sacrow to retrace the "travelling emperor’s" Nordic enthusiasm. Do look forward to stories & history, idyllic views and of course: music!
